Dental Implants

Dental Implants

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots, which are surgically placed into the jaw bone by the dental surgeon to serve as replacements for teeth. On top of these surgically placed Dental Implants, artificial teeth, crowns, bridges, or dentures, which may be fixed or removable, are attached. Dental implants are an ideal replacement for permanent teeth lost due to dental disease, an injury, or some other reason.

When Dental Implants are the best option

  • When a person, who has missing tooth/ teeth, wants a fixed/ definitive tooth/ teeth replacement solution with biting and chewing capabilities as good as those provided by natural teeth.
  • When a person wants to regain his/ her original facial look i.e. the facial look he/ she had before the tooth/ teeth loss.
  • When a person wants to stop shrinking of jaw bone and distortion of his/ her facial look, which takes place after teeth loss unless remedial measures are taken.
  • When a person wants to regain his/ her natural smile, which he/ she had lost as a result of tooth/ teeth loss.
  • When one can afford the cost of Dental Implants, which invariably is slightly higher than that of the traditional teeth replacement options.

Advantages of an Implant

A single dental implant does not compromise the integrity of other teeth. This means that there would be no alteration made to the neighboring teeth. A new tooth would be fixed in place and your overall look will be maintained. You will be able to clean and brush your teeth properly. Thus, you will never face the danger of having a decayed tooth or other associated problems.

  • Removable Dentures can loosen and dislodge while speaking. With implants, however, the person can confidently talk, eat, chew and speak naturally.
  • Conventional Removable Dentures can be clipped on Implants which remain firm as they take their support from the bone and thus the Denture would be stable & more comfortable.
  • Implants greatly enhance chewing efficiency and hence allows the patient to eat all types of nutritious food easily.
  • Dental implants greatly reduce bone loss and this in turn has a beneficial effect on facial musculature.
